Today I want to let you in on something! For those of you who have known me for a while, you’ll know that I am CONSTANTLY on the lookout for new business ideas and ways to make our company better. Not only for me but for my team and for you as well.
A few months ago I found something that has been and will be a game-changer throughout our industry. The team and I are SUPER excited about it! This is a big, exciting, and smart change for all of us here at KBB!
What is it?
SalonScale is an app and Bluetooth scale that separates parts from labour. It helps stylists and owners measure and manage exactly how much product is being used for each colour service. The best part of this is that it calculates exactly what it ACTUALLY costs to do that service.
Too many owners, including myself, have basically guessed what the products for each colour service costs our company. This is where SalonScale is a godsend. Every colour we create is now measured on this scale and the exact cost of doing that service is then reported to us in the app. Like I said game-changing.
What that means for you is that we can be 100% transparent about the cost of the service to you. We have now split our labour costs (the time it takes) and parts costs (SalonScale number) just like our mechanics and contractors. We are the only trade that doesn’t separate parts from labour. AND, every January when the cost of every single tube of colour, container of bleach, and bottle of developer goes up 10-50%, the business ends up absorbing that cost. Every. Single. January. and Every. Single.Tube/Bottle/Foil/Glove.Etc. You get the picture. No longer will you be overcharged or undercharged for your service. You only ever pay for what is used on YOU. It’s something we as an industry should have done ages ago.
If your getting a root touch up or full colour, you probably won’t notice anything over $5-15. Of you’re getting lots of foiling, balayage or fashion colours, it will be a higher number, but, you will never pay for more than what we use for YOUR individual service.
Colour services are no longer one size fits all, and neither should the pricing.
